This fall has been truly spectacular. We are about at the end of it though. Most of the leaves have dropped and we are patiently waiting for winter to arrive. That said, while we wait for the snow to fly there is so much to embrace about this time of time of year.
I am savoring every long run I get outside in the crisp cool air. Don’t get me wrong I love running year round, but there is something so perfect about running temperatures and conditions in the fall. There isn’t ice and snow on the sidewalks yet, most mountain roads are still open and I don’t have to bundle up to the extent that I resemble Ralphie from the Christmas Story. Like I said, so much to love! This week I soaked up a few evening runs in Sugar House Park and Liberty Park in SLC and a long run in Park City that included a section of Marsac Ave (not fun, but totally worth it).
This week I bagged up 11 bags of leaves, ELEVEN, and that was just the front yard. I should have snapped a pic, but I didn’t. Oh Well. We will mulch up any leaves that we rake up after this weekend but we are definitely utilizing the Park City dumpster days service while it is available. This offers us a convenient and environmentally friendly solution for dumping our yard waste because there are just too many leaves to mulch all of them and use them in our garden. If you are like us and have leaves to dispose of here are some of your options for the upcoming weeks. Click on the links below for more information. If you want to put those leaves to use in your own yard mulch them up and add them to your garden. They will help enhance the natural plant cycle. It is not ideal for your lawn to leave them there all winter. If you do, you are more likely to have brown spots in your lawn in the spring due to a lack of sunlight.
